Mandatory COVID Insurance
The law established a “Compulsory Individual Health Insurance associated with Covid-19” in favor of private sector workers with contracts subject to the Labor Code and who are developing their work in person, in whole or in part.
This insurance, charged to the employer, is a new requirement for companies, regardless of their size.
The value of the annual policy per worker will be up to 0.42 UF plus Tax annual for each worker.
The insurance will cover health issues, such as reimbursement for hospitalization and rehabilitation; and death for 180 UF.
For workers hired or who return to provide services in person, the insurance must be contracted within ten calendar days following the start of the worker's work.
The validity of the insurance contract will be one year from its respective contracting, and the coverage will be maintained in the event that the employment relationship ends for any reason and until the aforementioned term.
